Happy New Year!

First off we want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! Two thousand nine was a rough one for nearly everyone we know, and we are looking forward to the dawn of a new decade. Asita has been working non-stop as we prepare to launch a number of unbelievable projects and collaborations this year.

For the hard heads who still appreciate the smell of vinyl, Asita Recordings and Easy Rider team up to release the first single off the upcoming Contra Band album Praise Dirt. The Electronic World b/w P.S.A 7" dropped on January 1 and is OUT NOW! Check out the sound clips on the site and let us know what you think. Proper post coming soon.

Also in waiting in the wings is the Painkillers - Hate Parade album, Contra Band - Praise Dirt, Ellay Khule the Rifleman and Joe Dub present That Was Then This Is Now, Contra Band - Rhythm and Brews, the Cali Classics project, and much more!

On a technical note, we've improved our shopping cart by leaps and bounds.

The cart is now capable of giving you shipping calculations in real time and before you commit to purchasing anything. It also calculates international shipping accurately. Beyond that it does a lot of other fantastic behind the scenes things that no one will ever see, but which, will help us provide you with an overall better service.

Perhaps most excitingly the cart will also be set up to deploy digital goods, if that's your thing. The full blown store upgrade should go public soon (within the next week or two) and will be followed up by a completely new web site look and vision for 2010.

Here's to continued health and happiness in the new year. Thank you to all of the musicians who continue doing it despite the long odds, and to all of the fans that continue to show interest and support for original creative expressions.

Contra Band (Joe Dub/DJ Marz/Alex75) x Devin the Dude 7"

For the hard heads who still appreciate the smell of vinyl, we're ringing in the new year right. Asita Recordings and Easy Rider team up to release the first single off the upcoming Contra Band - Praise Dirt album.

The first track, "Electronic World," featuring Devin the Dude is a contemplation of the unexpected consequences of a world of technological convenience. Electronic World asks the question, "What kind of music comes from a place where everything is easy and nothing is earned?"

On the flip, P.S.A continues this line of questioning, serving as an anthem for those who demand more. Perhaps best summed up by this line: "home of Street music, home of hip-hop's muse, home of brave heart underdogs who dare refuse."

Pressed on limited edition vinyl. Sound clips on the site.
