This Is The Life premieres in San Francisco!

Remember back in March when we told you about this extraordinary film project? Well it's finally making it's way to the Bay and will be premiering at the San Francisco Black Film Festival, on June 7th! It has been suggested that you try and get your ticket online as seating is limited and going fast. Based on the unsolicited reviews coming in this has surpassed expectations. Now they just need to bring the movie to Hawaii :)

"In 1989, a collective of young artists gathered at a storefront health food cafe in South Central LA. Their mandate? To explore and expand the musical boundaries of hip hop. "This Is The Life" follows the story of the legendary Good Life Cafe and the countless talents who passed through it's doors."

Dennis Richmond retires after 40 years at KTVU

Photobucket

"Dennis Richmond got the news first.."

"Dennis Richmond's career story is the stuff of legend.

In 1969, while working for the station as a part-time clerk-typist, Richmond won a scholarship to a special journalism program at Columbia University in New York. Upon completion, he returned to KTVU Channel 2 and covered major Bay Area stories for the next seven years."

San Francisco television anchor Dennis Richmond retires after an amazing 40 year run on KTVU. It's a pretty profound landmark for all Bay Area natives, most of whom have grown up with Richmond's no nonsense delivery of the local news.

Bored Stiff - Don't Got Much and other [videos]

Bored Stiff is one of my favorite groups of all time because they stick with what their good at. It's honest music from a distinct perspective. The soundtrack is pure San Francisco, blazed and soulful. No fast raps or gimmicks here.

Going through my archives I realized I forgot to post about Bored Stiff's "Livin Right" video directed by Tony Rain. Peep the cameo by Z-man.

Always makin moves Bored Stiff is back with yet another video. This time for the song "Don't Got Much" an ode to the homeless in San Francisco.

Perhaps one of my favorite BS videos is the lo-fi video for "Rappers," also directed by Tony Rain years ago.
