Friends of Sound #8

FOS is back with Issue #8. I'm really impressed with the fact that they have an interview with Willie Tee, who was the frontman of one of Nola's greatest bands, The Gaturs. The interviewer sounds very excited to be talking to the man.

They've also spruced up the site with a podcast and small store section.

Contents also includes: oskar fischinger profile, SKET ONE, trapdoor-what it is?, kuwahara and the LA breakers, heavy sessions mix from mike the 2600 king, products, austin record show pictorial, kannegiesser.

Anyway, don't miss the archives, disable those pop-up blockers, and enjoy! This is quality stuff.

The Bay Area Invades MTV2! "My Block" Show Footage
March 6, 2006 by nando

Being Bay Area bred himself, MTV corespondent Sway hosted a special edition of My Block in which an indepth look was given to the Bay Area music, slang, and general culture. Various artists were spotlighted from Vallejo to San Fran. Some apart of the feature were E-40, Keak Da Sneak, Turf Talk, Too Short, San Quinn, JT The Bigga Figga, Keyshia Cole, and Mistah FAB. Although there is much more talent within the bay area, some of the key players were given some shine...

West Coast Rydaz captured the whole thing for yall, as some who don't have MTV2 were expecting to miss the show. Check it out below!!!"

MTV My Block - Bay Area hosted by E-40

MTV's "My Block" series will focus on the Bay Area rap scene this Sunday, hosted by none other than E-40. Rap News Network says: "Vallejo rapper E-40 and his extended "family" gathered at Beverly Hills Park on Monday to barbecue, shoot an MTV special and catch up with old neighborhood cronies and fellow Bay Area rap musicians." You can read more on that here.

It's should come as no real suprise that E-40 is hosting the nationally syndicated show, considering that his highly anticipated album "Ghetto Report Card" is scheduled to drop in a couple of weeks. See what he has to say about the album here.

MTV has previously aired
"My Block" episodes on Atlanta. Check your local listings for air times in your area.

Speaking of Youtube, don't miss out on this one!

It's a clip from 1976 of Chaka Khan playing drums over her bands funky instrumental. Damn.
